Outbound Lanes on Chicago Skyway Reopen After Crash

Commuters are warned to expect major delays or find alternate routes of transportation

An accident caused all outbound lanes to be temporarily shut down on the Chicago Skyway Friday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m. a crash was reported near 95th Street after a semi crossed the median into oncoming traffic, police told the Chicago Tribune.

By 1:30 p.m. all drivers were being forced to exit off at 92nd Street, causing a huge headache for hundreds stuck in the backup. Miles of three lanes packed full of cars could be seen at a stand-still while being diverted into the single-lane exit.

The victims involved in the crash or extent of their injuries is still unclear.

Just after 3 p.m. lanes were reopened and traffic was beginning to flow again.
