Police in the 18th District are warning Near North residents to be on the alert after three late-night assaults and robberies on the sidewalk.

Police say the man and woman approach the victims while they're walking down the sidewalk and punch, push or throw the victims to the ground.

The pair flee the scene after taking items from the victims.

Police believe all three incidents are connected:

  • August 22 -- 400 block of N. Wabash Ave. at approximately 1:30 a.m.
  • September 18 -- 000 block of E. Illinois St. at approximately 1:45 a.m.
  • September 13 -- 000 block of E. Ohio St. at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Police say the suspects may be driving a dark-colored, four-door vehicle, but aren't sure of the make or model.
