Three robberies near the University of Illinois at Chicago campus have prompted police to issue an alert asking for the public's help.

In each incident, victims were approached from behind by two male suspects and battered and knocked to the ground as they were robbed, according to a news alert from Harrison Area detectives.

The two suspects are both described as black males dressed in dark clothing, 15 to 19 years old, 5-feet-4 to 5-feet-8 and 140 to 150 pounds, the alert said.

The incident on Jan. 9 was in the 1000 block of West 14th Place; Jan. 10 was in the 800 block of West Maxwell Street; and Jan. 12 was in the 1400 block of South Peoria Street., the alert said.

UIC campus maps indicate the incidents were in the southern end, near University Village restaurants and a recreation field.

Anyone with information should call Harrison Area detectives at (312) 746-8253.
