Kanye West's Longtime Co-Writer Rhymefest Says Rapper ‘Needs Help'

"My brother needs help, in the form of counseling. Spiritual & mental," Rhymefest tweeted. "He should step away from the public … & heal."

Rhymefest, a rapper who once worked closely with fellow Chicago native Kanye West, says his old friend and former co-writer is in need of "spiritual and mental" counseling.

The two artists were longtime collaborators and musical partners in the years past, having written hits such as "New Slaves" and "Glory," and even won a Grammy together for "Jesus Walks." But from Rhymefest’s latest tweets, it seems the two are no longer in contact.

"My brother needs help, in the form of counseling. Spiritual & mental," Rhymefest tweeted Friday. "He should step away from the public … & heal."

He went on to say that West’s "mind and spirit" weren't "right" and although he’s tried to reach out as a friend, he hasn’t had any luck. [[368853971, C]]

The comments came just as West dropped his newest album, "The Life Of Pablo," that ignited a new controversy between the rapper and pop superstar Taylor Swift, whom he called a "bitch" in a song written for her.

Days later, West unleashed another stream of consciousness, claiming to have $53 million in personal debt before publicly asking Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion after referring to himself as the "greatest artist of all time" and "this generation’s Disney."

It doesn’t seem like West and Rhymefest will be winning another Grammy together anytime soon.

In the same series of tweets, one fan begged Rhymefest to "start back writing Kanye's lyrics," while another asked if fans would "have to settle" for lyrics "that don't even make sense" — to which Rhymefest replied, "unfortunately, yes."

West's agents did not immediately return requests for comment.
