Report Reveals Reason for Rajon Rondo Suspension

Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo will miss Monday’s game after being suspended by the team for "conduct detrimental to the team," and we now have a clue as to why he was hit with the ban.

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Rondo was suspended after getting into a “heated argument” with an assistant coach during the Bulls’ loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The coach and Rondo apparently resolved the issue, but the Bulls still felt it was appropriate to discipline Rondo:

“Coach Fred Hoiberg would not go into details of that suspension, but a source said that Rondo got into a 'heated argument with an [assistant] coach, and wouldn’t let it rest.' The confrontation happened Saturday, during what was an awful performance in Dallas by both the team and Rondo, and once calmer heads prevailed, both Rondo and the assistant 'were over it,' the source said.”

Rondo will be replaced in the starting lineup by Jerian Grant as the Bulls look to bounce back after their blowout defeat in Dallas.

Rondo is averaging 8.2 points and 7.2 assists per game during the regular season, so his absence will certainly be felt. Tip time against the Blazers is scheduled for 7 p.m.
