Cubs Trade Starlin Castro to Yankees

The Chicago Cubs made a big splash by signing second baseman Ben Zobrist on Tuesday night, but another shoe has fallen as well as Starlin Castro has been traded to the New York Yankees, the team confirmed.

Castro, who was drafted by the Cubs and has spent his entire MLB career with the team, was a key contributor down the stretch in the 2015 season, jumping in at the second base position and playing a big role offensively as the team made it to the postseason for the first time since 2008.

Cubs will get right handed pitcher Adam Warren in exchange for Castro.

Castro slugged 11 home runs and drove in 69 RBI for the Cubs during the 2015 season, but his campaign was marked more by his transition from shortstop to second base. Initially benched in favor of Addison Russell, Castro moved to second and thrived, giving the Cubs a lockdown pair of middle infielders.
