Puppy in Need of Medical Attention Stolen From Animal Rescue

The 8-week-old, 4-pound puppy was stolen Monday afternoon

An 8-week-old puppy in need of medical attention was stolen from a Joliet animal rescue Monday.

The puppy, who has not yet been named, went missing from Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue in Joliet early Monday afternoon. She suffers from an upper respiratory infection that requires medication, and a spokesperson for Hopeful Tails said she must be at the shelter to receive proper care.

Witnesses allegedly saw two men enter the non-public part of the shelter and take the 4-pound dog while volunteers were working in another part of the building, according to the spokesperson. The shelter filed a police report, and Joliet police are now gathering surveillance video, which will be shared as it becomes available.

The shelter asks that anyone with information on the whereabouts of the puppy or those who toook her call the Joliet Police Department at (815) 724-3100 or Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue at (815) 823-2174.
