Probation for Dog Killer

Judge orders psych exam for Carol Stream man

The man who killed his family's dog over a puddle in the house could be labeled insane.

A judge ordered Michael Jenkins to undergo a psychological evaluation after Jenkins admitted to killing his parents’ dog because it relieved itself in the family home, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Jenkins, 28, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty Monday.

Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Lindt says the 13-year old beagle, Lexi, suffered a broken neck, severed spine and had multiple contusions, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The judge also sentenced Jenkins to two years probation and 226 days in jail, time he already served following his arrest last September.
