Prince Leaves Chicago in Purple Haze

Much of Chicago was left in a purple haze Saturday after multiple performances by music icon Prince.

The famous musician performed at two different venues in the city including the City Winery on Randolph Street.

The impromptu concert came just hours after the celeb finished a performance at George Lucas' wedding reception in Hyde Park's Promontory Point.

Prince performed with a 20-piece orchestra at the reception then continued his string of performances at the City Winery later in the evening.

The concert began around 1 a.m. and tickets began at $75 for advance and $100 at the door, but stretched up to $250 for the VIP experience.

Tickets sold out in minutes, according to the City Winery.

Prince and his entourage brought along a series of purple equipment cases and instruments to the performance.

Prince performed many of his classic hits, such as 1999 and Little Red Corvette, and also performed covers of many of the songs he wrote or produced for acts such as Sheila E. and Morris Day and the Time.

He performed his late-night set along with New Power Generation and 3rdeyegirl.

Concert-goers were forbidden from taking photos or video of the performance at the risk of being removed from the venue.

The concert wrapped up around 3 a.m. after three encores.

"We couldn't be more honored or thrilled to host the show," the City Winery wrote on their Facebook page. "Thanks for a special night."
