Police: Woman Found Dead in Gurnee Home Died of Single Gunshot Wound

The woman who was found dead inside a home in suburban Gurnee Sunday died of a single gunshot wound, Gurnee police announced Monday.

The woman was identified by police as 48-year-old Beata J. Brocksom.

Brocksom was found dead inside a home in the 3700 block of Pacific Avenue in Gurnee at about 9:25 a.m. Sunday after police received a call about a possible injured person. Police immediately launched a homicide investigation and placed the neighborhood on lockdown as they searched for suspect David M. Brocksom, whom they described as "armed and dangerous."

After an intense 12-hour manhunt, police captured 43-year-old David Brocksom. He was taken into custody without incident around 7:45 p.m.  after he was stopped while driving toward the Gurnee Police Department. It is unclear if he was trying to turn himself in.

Police confirmed Sunday the incident was domestic-related, but they have not commented on the relationship between Beata and David Brocksom.

Children were also living inside the home where Beata Brocksom was found, but they were not home at the time of the murder, according to police. Authorities say the children were later found safe.

Charges are pending as the homicide investigation continues.
