Police Warn of State Street Cologne Thefts

Chicago Police

Chicago Police released this surveillance photo of a man they believe is stealing cologne from State Street shops.

This State Street shoplifter may or may not be one of the best smelling shoplifters in Chicago.

In a community alert Friday, police warned retail store employees in the Loop of a string of robberies this month where a man steals bottles of cologne without paying.

When confronted by store security, police said the man threatens to use a weapon and flees the store on foot.

Police said at least two of the thefts took place in the last month and a similar incident was reported in March, all of which took place in the 0-100 block of State Street.

  • Around 3:23 p.m. in the 0-100 Block of N. State St. on March 10
  • Around 8 p.m. in the 0-100 Block of N. State St. on May 8
  • Around 12:45 p.m. in the 0-100 Block of N. State St. on May 27

They are asking anyone with information to call Area Central Detectives at (312) 747-8380.
