Police Warn CTA Riders After String of Red Line Robberies

The thieves wait until riders get off the train then launch their attack, according to police

Residents in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood are on high alert after a pair of robberies near the CTA red line stop on the city's South Side.

Chicago police warned about two robberies targeting CTA riders in just the span of days. The first was reported at 11:40 p.m. on Aug.31 in the 200 block of West 33rd Street, another at 6:40 a.m. on Sept. 2. In the 140 block of West 33rd Street.

The thieves wait until riders get off the train then launch their attack, according to police.

Investigators say in both instances men approached and robbed their victims as they were leaving the Red Line Sox–35th station. It unclear if the men have a weapon.
