Police Shut Down Chinatown Gambling Parlor

Police seized close to $50,000 from South Side gambling business

Police this week seized close to $50,000 and arrested the owner for allegedly running an illegal gaming business in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood.

Debby Tsao, 56, was charged with a municipal violation of gambling and keeping a gambling location. Her business on the 2300 block of South Wentworth was shut down Tuesday after complaints of illegal gaming activity.

Authorities conducted a license check and discovered numerous video poker machines in plain view, along with individuals using the machines. Officers seized cash from 21 money boxes along with daily payout receipts and player tickets.

Tsao is expected to appear in court in June.
