Chicago police officers and Cook County Crime Stoppers canvassed the area where a Comcast technician was shot earlier this month and asked for the public’s help in identifying the shooter.
“We need your help to identify who this offender is,” said George McDade, chairman for the Cook County Crime Stoppers. “We have to get this person off the streets.”
Police said the worker was sitting in his vehicle just before 1 p.m. in an alley near 76th Street and Kingston Avenue.
Police say an armed man approached the worker, demanded money, and shot him in the stomach.
But before the shooting occurred, another man walked into the alley and saw what was happening.
"He told me to walk away," said the witness, who asked not to be identified. "I walked away and before I even got to the gate, I heard a gunshot."
The man says the Comcast worker appeared to be complying with the robber.

"I came out of the gate and he was robbing him. He was taking everything from him, going through his pockets and taking everything he had, and the Comcast guy wasn't doing anything, letting him take it," the witness said.
The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Cook County Crime Stoppers said Comcast is offering a $1,000 reward to for information leading to the shooter’s arrest.
“Our goal today is to get this person who committed this terrible crime off the streets as soon as possible and make this neighborhood safer for everyone,” said Steve Thomas, area vice president for Comcast.
Officials distributed 1,200 fliers throughout the neighborhood and are asking anyone with information surrounding the robbery to call (800) 535-STOP.
