Police Searching for Would-Be Abductor

Culprit fled when a good Samaritan came to girl's aid

Police are searching for a man who grabbed a 12-year-old girl and tried to pull her into a vehicle Friday.

The girl was waiting for a bus at the 79th Street Red Line station around 8:45 Friday night. She says a man called to her from his vehicle. After she ignored him, she says he tried to pull her inside.

A woman came to the girl's aid, and the man fled, police said in a community alert. The Samaritan helped the girl onto the bus and the girl later reported the incident to her mother.

Police describe the would-be attacker as a black man in his 20s with a dark complexion and short hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt, and white shoes.

The vehicle in question was a newer model with sliding doors. Police describe it as a "Caravan"
