Both men are described as middle-aged Hispanic men wtih black hair and mustaches

Police are searching for two men who attempted to lure two children into their car in the Irving Park neighborhood last week.

A 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl were walking home from school in the 3900 block of North Spaulding Avenue on Jan. 20 at about 3:15 p.m. when a vehicle with two men inside stopped near them. The passenger of the car asked the children to come over to the vehicle and attempted to engage them in conversation. He then offered to give them a ride home or take them somewhere else, according to a community alert from police.

When the children did not respond to the man, he offered them candy and acted like he was going to leave his vehicle. The children then ran to their home, and the vehicle drove away.

Police describe the passenger of the vehicle as a middle-aged Hispanic man with black hair who is partially bald on top. He had a mustache and acne or freckles on his face and was wearing a beige jacket.

The second offender, who was driving the car, is described as a middle-aged Hispanic man with black hair and a mustache. He was wearing a black hoodie with a white t-shirt underneath.

The vehicle is described as a dark green four-door sedan of an older model with rust on the rear of the car and blue tape over one of the taillights.
