Dr. Promila Mehta-Paul, an Indiana eye doctor, has been missing for a week

Police are turning to the public to help find a missing Northwest Indiana woman.

The 70-year-old eye doctor has not been seen since March 21.

Dr. Promila Mehta-Paul, of Munster, Ind., was last seen on Monday at her medical office on Kennedy Avenue in Highland, according to a news release from the Munster Police Department.

On Tuesday, she didn't show up for work, despite appointments on her calendar, and gave no indication that she wouldn’t be coming to work.

Munster Sgt. Steven Kovacik confirmed police located Mehta-Paul's son in California

Kovacik did not have details on the conversation they've had with him

Mehta-Paul is described as a white female of Indian descent. She is about 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 130 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair.

Munster police checked the doctor's home and said it appears she had not been there for several days. They are eager to find her vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Gold Rav 4 with Indiana License plate number: DW2031.

Anyone with information about Mehta-Paul is asked to contact the Munster Police Department at 219-836-6600 or the Highland Police Department at 219-838-3181.
