Video Shows Possible Suspects in Killing of Grandfather in Roseland

The video shows two suspects running down the street around the same time the shooting happened

Two possible suspects in the fatal shooting of a 77-year-old great-grandfather in the Roseland neighborhood Monday are shown running down a street in surveillance video police released to the public Monday.

The video shows the two men sprinting down the street around the same time of the incident.

The shooting killed 77-year-old Odell Branch Sr., who was a church deacon, and injured his five-year-old great-grandson who was sitting on his lap while the two watched TV in Branch's home in the 200 block of West 105th Street Monday night. The gunfire also injured a 34-year-old woman, who is a family friend of the Branch's, and her two-year-old son as she was putting the boy inside a car.

Authorities said they believed the home was targeted because of a gang rivalry. The teenaged grandson of the Branch's was a known gang member and the likely target of the shootings, a Chicago Police Department spokesperson said.

Family and friends of the victims said no one at the home during that time was involved in a gang.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident or the individuals in the video to call Area South detectives at (312) 747-8271.
