Dozens of police officers shut down roads near Old Orchard Mall in Skokie Friday night while responding to reports of gunshots, officials said.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Friday near the 4800 block of Golf Road in Skokie, where officers discovered a male juvenile shot in the abdomen, according to police.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The shooting occurred as a carnival was going on across the street from Niles North High School, but it was unclear if the shooting was related to the carnival.

The incident is under investigation by Skokie Police Detectives. No one was in custoday as of Saturday morning.
