One person is being questioned as Calumet Area detectives continue investigating a stabbing Saturday morning in the Longwood Manor neighborhood.

Police say the victim was stabbed in the back after a verbal dispute.

About 6:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of South Loomis Street the victim and the offender, who was wallking his dog at the time, had a verbal altercation, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. That escalated into a physical confrontation and the victim was stabbed in the lower back, Mirabelli said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, in “guarded but stable” condition, Mirabelli said.

Police have one person in custody who they have been questioning, but no charges had been announced as of about 12:30 p.m.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Mirabelli. His condition is not known at this time.
