Police: Father Took Rap For Son Speeding 124 MPH

Father and son charged following early-morning incident

A Naperville man is charged with trying to take the blame for for his speeding son.

Police say an officer clocked a white Dodge Charger doing 124 mph at 2 a.m. Saturday on Naperville Road, according to the Daily Herald.

The officer couldn't catch the vehicle, but recognized 24-year-old Konnor Burns behind the wheel and drove to his Sheringham Drive home.

Burns' father, William Burns, allegedly told the officer that he was the one behind the wheel, but the officer discounted his story because he arrived in time to see the driver walking into the door of the home, the newspaper reports.

Konnor Burns faces numerous charges, including speeding, DUI and reckless driving. William Burns was charged with interfering with police.
