Police Warn of Bicyclist Groping Women in Logan Square

Police issued an alert warning of a man groping women’s buttocks

Chicago Police issued an alert Thursday warning of a man groping women’s buttocks from a bicycle on the West Side.

About 5:35 p.m. June 19, a 22-year-old woman was walking in the 1500 block of North Rockwell when she was approached from behind by a male on bicycle who grabbed her buttocks before riding westbound on North Avenue, according to a community alert from Area North detectives.

Later that day, about 7:15 p.m., a 38-year-old woman was walking in the 2400 block of North Kedzie when she was approached from behind by a man on a silver bicycle, who grabbed her buttocks before riding off.

About 7:30 a.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old girl was walking in the 1400 block of North Homan Avenue when a male walked up behind her and grabbed her buttocks, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male 15-20, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-10 with a thin build and light complexion.

Not surprisingly, area residents are concerned.

"Anytime someone touches you in a way that you're not expecting or haven't asked for, it's going to make you feel real crappy the rest of your entire day," Natalie Lagerfeld said.

Shane Riordan finds the actions disgusting.

"It's not right no matter what it is. You can't just feel somebody up for the sake of feeling somebody up, it's not right," Riordan said.
