Police Hope Bucktown Arrests Solve Series of Muggings

Two charged with punching, robbing woman in Bucktown Thursday

Chicago police hope the arrests of two teens accused of mugging a woman in Bucktown will put an end to a series of robberies on the near northwest side.

The woman was attacked Thursday morning at North Avenue and Leavitt Street.

Police said one of the teens got out of a car, punched the woman in the face, took her purse and then got back into the car and got away with two other people

Using descriptions of the suspect and the car provided by witnesses, police tracked down the vehicle and caught two of the suspects, who tried to get away on foot.

Travion Lockett, 17, of the 2200 block of West Maypole, and a 16-year-old who police would not identify were both charged with robbery.  A third suspect is still being sought.

Thursday's attack was the latest in a series of robberies targeting women in Bucktown, Wicker Park and Logan Square.  Police hope these arrests put an end to the attacks.
