Police Arrest Man Accused Of Stiffing Cabbie

A man was arrested Thursday night after he ran off instead of paying his $80 cab fare last week in southwest suburban Orland Park.

Homer Glen resident Brian P. Zabrodski, 24, faces one felony count of aggravated battery and a misdemeanor count of theft, Orland Park police announced Friday evening.

The cab driver drove Zabrodski to the 9800 block of Cordoba Court about 6:40 a.m. on May 6, but the man said he didn’t have the money to pay his $80 fare, police said.

Zabrodski then ran off and the cab driver followed, police said. During a brief struggle, the cab driver fell and broke his ankle.

Police released surveillance footage from the cab Wednesday, and a Lockport police detective recognized Zabrodski from prior contact, according to Orland Park police.

Zabrodski was arrested at his home in the 16100 block of Wildwood Lane Thursday night, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
