2nd Suspect in Custody After Police-Involved Shooting on Bishop Ford: ISP

Police shot a carjacking suspect after a chase Tuesday on the Bishop Ford Expressway and took a second suspect into custody hours later, according to the Illinois State Police.

The shooting occurred about 2:19 p.m. while state police were assisting Dolton police in the pursuit of a vehicle out of Hazel Crest believed to be involved in an aggravated vehicular hijacking, state police said. The suspects bailed from the vehicle around 130th Street and fled on foot, police said. One of the suspects was shot and taken to an area hospital while the other remained at large.

State police confirmed the second person was taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m.

South Shore service was stopped west of the Hegewisch station because of the police activity for several hours, transit officials said.

Dolton police did not immediately respond to request for comment.
