Police: 350 Pounds of Pot Found in Truck at Hampshire Hotel

Kane County sheriff’s police spotted Levi Blalock, 36, while patrolling the parking lot of the Super 8 Hotel at 115 Arrowhead Drive in Hampshire about 8 a.m.

A North Carolina man is facing drug trafficking charges after authorities found more than 350 pounds of high-grade cannabis in his truck at a northwest suburban hotel Thursday morning.

Kane County sheriff’s police spotted Levi Blalock, 36, while patrolling the parking lot of the Super 8 Hotel at 115 Arrowhead Drive in Hampshire about 8 a.m., the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Blalock gave conflicting stories to explain what he was doing in the area, police said. A police dog was called to the parking lot and indicated the presence of narcotics in his 2015 GMC Sierra pickup.

Authorities found 15 large garbage bags inside, each containing many smaller bags of cannabis, police said. In all, authorities found 354 pounds of high-grade cannabis worth an estimated $3.2 million. Deputies also seized $3,100 in cash.

Blalock, of the 200 block of Buckhorn Road in Moncure, N.C., was charged with one count of cannabis trafficking and two counts of unlawful possession of cannabis, both felonies, police said.

He is being held at the Kane County jail awaiting a bond hearing, the statement said.
