Person of Interest Held in Death Near Metra

The victim was found strangled last week near Park Ridge Metra tracks, police said

Park Ridge police said a person of interest is being held in the death of a 39-year-old man found last week in a parking lot near Metra.

The man was found strangled at about 2:18 a.m. Thursday on the ground in the 200 block of South Summit Avenue near Metra tracks, police said.

Police identified the man last week as Henry W. Nowak, 39, from Chicago. He carried no identification, and police asked the public's help in identifying him.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday classified the death as a homicide.

Cmdr. Lou Jogmen told the Chicago Tribune that police don’t yet have a motive and are exploring "a number of theories."
