Person in Wheelchair Falls Onto Red Line Tracks

Power was temporarily shut off on the Red Line tracks Saturday afternoon after a person in a wheelchair fell onto the tracks.

Crews responded about 1:35 p.m. to reports of a person in a wheelchair on the tracks at the Chicago Red Line Station, Fire Media Affairs Chief Joseph Roccasalva said.

The person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, Roccasalva said.

The person, who fell onto the northbound tracks, did not make contact with the third rail or with a train, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

Power was removed from the northbound tracks at the Chicago Station at 1:30 p.m. and restored at 1:43 p.m., Hosinski said.
