Peoria Gets Bulled Over

Police take down runaway bull

It may seem difficult to believe, but this isn't a cock-and-bull story.

It's just a bull story.

Peoria police shot and killed a bull after it escaped from a local stockyards, reports the Daily Herald.

At about 11 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a call at the Peoria Stockyard. The bull had reportedly escaped from a trailer, but no one was certain of its whereabouts.

In fact, the bull was not seen again until 3 a.m. Monday, according to the Journal Star.

That's 16 hours! Just where does a 2,000-pound animal go unnoticed for nearly a whole day?

The stockyard employees reportedly said they had no way to catch or control the animal, and the cops were unsuccessful when they attempted to corral the bull with their squad cars.

In the interests of safety, Peoria police decided to euthanize the animal, reports the Journal Star. It staggered into a homeowner's back yard before it finally collapsed.

Fortunately, no people were hurt during the incident.

But let that be a lesson to you. Keep your eye on the bull.
