Weekend Chicago commuters will want to steer clear of Lake Shore Drive Sunday morning as parts of the road will be closed due to helicopter delivery of air conditioning equipment.
The closures will take place between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the northbound and southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive between Chicago Avenue and Division Street, according to a release from the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
The closures are due to helicopter delivery of air conditioning equipment to a Lake shore Drive high-rise, the OEMC said.
The lakefront path will also be closed in the area and parking restrictions will also be in effect.
Motorists can detour northbound Lake Shore Drive by going west on Chicago Avenue and north on Michigan Avenue to northbound Lake Shore Drive, the release said.
Southbound drivers can go south on Michigan Avenue then east on Chicago Avenue until it reaches southbound Lake Shore Drive.
Traffic control aides will be on site to assist with traffic flow, the release said.
