Parking Meter Rates Aren't Up Yet

Chicago drivers have gotten a temporary reprieve from rising parking meter prices.

Chicago drivers haven't been hit with higher parking meter rates yet, because the deal to privatize the parking meter system to the new lessee, Chicago Parking Meter, LLC, has not closed yet.

The Chicago Huffington Post reported that, while it  only took 72 hours for the City Council to pass an ordinance privatizing Chicago's parking meters on Dec. 5, 2008, it's taking considerably longer to pound out the deal.
