BB Gun Fired at Pace Bus on Eisenhower Expressway

State Police say the suspect used a BB gun in the shooting

A woman was injured late Wednesday night when someone shot out a window of a Pace Bus with a BB gun on the Eisenhower Expressway.

The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m. on the eastbound Eisenhower Espressway, near Independence Boulevard, according to Illinois State Police.

One of the passengers in the van was injured from the shattered glass, authorities said. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

The Pace Bus was reportedly carrying several passengers at the time of the shooting.

The incident is the latest in a string of shootings on Chicago-area expressways. Last month, authorities warned that more than 20 shootings were reported on expressways in the first six months of the year, already surpassing the total number of shootings from 2014.

Officials have not said whether there is a suspected cause for the rise in expressway shootings.
