The queen of all media had a recent brush with her own mortality.
According to the New York Times, Oprah Winfrey told the audience at a Los Angeles conference last month that she had a breast cancer scare the week before, but it turned out to be a false alarm. The revelation was also news to her best friend, Gayle King, who was also on stage, and King reportedly grew visibly upset.
Many of the audience questions at the event pertained to Winfrey's struggles with her OWN cable network, but one woman chided her for not blindsiding King with the breast cancer news in public.
Past health problems for Winfrey have included a 2007 thyroid problem that she said contributed to weight gain.
