1 Man Shot in Suburban Gang Dispute Involving Hundreds

Police say "several hundred" people ran out of the alley where the shooting took place early Sunday

A man was shot near a north suburban bowling alley early Sunday in what police are calling a gang-related attack in unincorporated Zion Township.

Deputies were called to a report of a person with a gun about 1:40 a.m. at Pinsters Bowl at 1646 Sheridan Road, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Responding officers were met by “several hundred” people running out of the alley due to shots that had been fired, sheriff’s police said.

They later found a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the leg and head. A deputy applied a tourniquet to his leg before he was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, police said.

Detectives think the shooting stemmed from a dispute between rival gang members. Anyone with information should call sheriff’s police at (847) 549-5200. Tips can also be left at (847) 377-4424.
