One Arrested, Cop Hurt in Accident Following Shooting

A Montgomery police officer was seriously injured early Saturday when he was struck by a car driven by a man who was later charged with driving under the influence.

Early Saturday, Montgomery police officers responded to the 700 block of Oakton Avenue for a call of shots fired, a release from Montgomery police said.

While at the scene, midnight Patrol Sgt. Adam Kuncl was struck by a vehicle leaving the area, the release said.

Sgt. Kuncl was taken to a hospital and treated for his serious injuries, the release said. He is currently listed in stable condition, according to Mongomery Police Department Lead Dispatcher, Jacqueline Bily.

The driver of the car that struck the sergeant, 18-year-old Kendall J. Collier, was taken into custody and felony charges were authorized against him of one count of aggravated DUI, with more charges pending, the release said.
