Olive Garden Food Trucks Delivering Free Breadsticks, Sandwiches to Chicago Area

The restaurant chain is turning the city into what they’re calling #BreadstickNation for four days only to celebrate the launch of their latest breadstick creation

Olive Garden will be doing what they do best – serving up unlimited breadsticks – for the Chicago area this week. But this time they’ll be doing it on wheels.

The restaurant chain is turning the city into what they’re calling #BreadstickNation for four days only to celebrate the launch of their latest creation: breadstick sandwiches.

Olive Garden’s first-ever food trucks will be posted up throughout the city Thursday through Sunday dolling out free samples of the restaurant’s new Italian meatball breadstick sandwich, chicken parmigiana breadstick sandwich, and of course – the traditional buttery breadsticks.

Here is where you can find the food trucks:

  • Thursday: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Daley Plaza Farmers Market
  • Friday: 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. at US Cellular Field
  • Saturday: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Southport Art Festival
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Southport Art Festival

The Italian restaurant chain first introduced their new breadstick sandwiches June 1 as part of a broader menu revamp intended to play up its most popular offerings.

Olive Garden already has a follow-up act planned with the "breadstick crostini" launching in August. The "breadstick crostini" — or toasted bread — will be sliced and used as part of an appetizer, said Jose Duenas, Olive Garden's executive vice president of marketing.

"The flavor profile of the breadstick is powerful," Duenas said in an interview.

As for the quality of the breadsticks, the restaurant said the recipe for them hasn't changed. The breadstick sandwiches aim to simply build on its most popular offerings.
