    A 24-year-old woman was hospitalized following a sexual assault Sunday morning in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, according to authorities.

    The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West Belmont Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

    Police say the offender is in custody in Lafayette, Ind., awaiting extradition. According to the Lafayette Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals office. (Published Tuesday, Oct 15, 2013)

    She was taken in stable condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to Fire Media Affairs.

    Police said they were investigating the incident.
