Officers Shoot, Injure Man Who Fired at Them: Police

Police said the man fired at two officers during a chase

Chicago Police said two officers shot and injured a man they said fired at them early Wednesday during a chase.

Police said the officers heard gunshots at about 12:30 a.m. in the area of 91st and Marshfield in the Brainerd neighborhood. Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said the officers saw three men who took off running.

The officers chased one suspect on foot to a backyard near 92nd and Justine, where police said the suspect fired at an officer.

The officer shot back, and Camden said the suspect pointed his gun at a second officer who also opened fire.

The man was hit in the hand and is expected to recover. He was taken into custody.

Police said they found a semi-automatic at the scene.

The officers weren't hurt in the incident.
