President Barack Obama will commemorate Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday in Springfield during his first trip to Illinois since he took office.

Obama and first lady Michelle will arrive in Springfield on Thursday before spending weekend back home in Chicago.

Spokesman Robert Gibbs says he's sure the first couple will go out for Valentine's Day.

Since his inauguration on Jan. 20, Obama has spent most of his time inside the White House compound. Gibbs says it's safe to say that the president is already starting to feel cooped up.

The Obamas will return to Washington on Sunday or Monday.
