President Barack Obama and his clan plan to spend the Memorial Day weekend in Chicago, a White House official said Monday.

Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha will arrive in the city Thursday and stay through the holiday weekend, a White House administration official said Monday.

They'll likely stay at their Kenwood home -- Obama's own Kennebunkport, as he famously said.

The president will head to Elwood, Illinois on Memorial Day to participate in ceremony at the Lincoln National Cemetery.

Obama hasn’t visited home that much since his presidency began. He’s traveled to Chicago only three times – once for a Valentine’s Day date with his wife, once to address the American Medical Association – since taking office.

The last time he was in Illinois, Obama spoke in Quincy and gave a boost to his basketball buddy Alexi Giannoulias.
