Officials announced today that a yet-to-be-identified family from Oak Park is the winner of a Powerball jackpot, the Chicago Tribune reports. Their grand prize is $18.75 million.
Lottery officials confirmed that the winning ticket was sold at Thornton Gas and Food Market in Forest Park on Dec. 11 and that it was the first grand-prize winning ticket sold in Illinois.
The winning numbers were 1, 8, 10, 19 and 20 with a Powerball number of 23 and a Power Play of 2. They will split the $37.5 million jackpot with a winner in Kentucky, and the gas station will receive a $187,000 bonus for selling the ticket as well.
The family members are not frequent players, the Tribune reports. They bought the ticket as they were leaving for vacation, because it was their son's birthday.
