Northwestern Memorial Ranks Among Best 2013-14 Hospitals

Northwestern Memorial ranked 6 out of 18 highly recognized hospitals

Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital made the honor roll.

A U.S. News & World Report ranked Northwestern sixth in its annual America’s Best Hospitals list for the 2013-14 year. The Chicago hospital placed six spots ahead of its previous ranking.

An estimated 5,000 hospitals nationwide were considered and narrowed down to 18 that made the so-called "honor roll" ranking the top hospitals. Northwestern is considered number one in Illinois and in Chicago.

“It is humbling to be ranked on the Honor Roll by U.S. News with so many of the nation’s best hospitals,” Northwestern Memorial HealthCare’s President and CEO Dean M. Harrison said.  “Although we will celebrate this achievement, we recognize there is still opportunity for improvement and will remain focused on advancing innovations in patient care and medical research to support the communities we’re so privileged to serve.”

Northwestern was recognized in 14 out of 16 specific categories including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery.
