Northwest Side Cemetery to Host Showing of ‘Hocus Pocus'

Another Chicago cemetery plans to host a special movie screening on cemetery grounds, but this time the movie fits the family-friendly category instead of the horror genre.

Irving Park Cemetery, located at 7777 W. Irving Park Road on the city's Northwest Side, will show Halloween favorite "Hocus Pocus" on a giant screen on Saturday.

In August, Chicago's historic Bohemian National Cemetery caused stirred up controversy when it hosted a showing of the horror movie "Sinister." While some thought the idea was unique and fun, others thought it was disrespectful to host an entertainment event where hundreds had been laid to rest.

The showing of "Hocus Pocus" at Irving Park Cemetery is free to the public. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
