No, Cubs' Albert Almora Jr. Didn't Flip Off the President During White House Visit, He Says

Soon after Albert Almora Jr. posed for photos with his teammates and President Donald Trump, questions surrounding the Cubs outfielder's hand placement began popping up fast and furious.

Some believed Almora subtly flipped off the president in the Oval Office Wednesday, but did he really?

No, he said.

"Guys were giving me a hard time about it," Almora told CSN Chicago. "But I pointed the second finger. We're all good."

Trump welcomed several players from the World Series champion Chicago Cubs and their manager to the White House Wednesday.

The Cubs gave Trump a team jersey printed with "45" in recognition of his status as the 45th U.S. president.

As the group posed for photos, with World Series trophy sitting next to Trump and Kris Bryant holding a 45 Wrigley Field scoreboard, some were quick to zoom in on Almora's fingers.

The image showed Almora with some of his left hand inside his pants pocket, appearing to leave his middle finger exposed. But a closer look at the image shows his index and middle finger were actually side-by-side.

"Obviously, it's unfortunate," Almora told CSN Chicago after the visit. "I'm getting ready to take a picture and I'm posing there. But you guys know that I would never do that to the president of the United States. I respect everbody. It is what it is. We laugh about it now, but there's definitely two fingers out there."
