Chicago Police are talking to witnesses and questioning a person of interest in the shooting of a UPS driver in Englewood Tuesday morning.

The driver was critically wounded when two men demanded he drive away with them in the UPS truck, and shot him when he refused.

The 28-year-old driver was attempting to run away when one of the would-be robbers shot him in the back as he fled, according to a police News Affairs statement.

Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said the man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The driver remained in critical condition early Wednesday following surgery.  Police say they have not been able to talk to him about the incident.

They are talking to witnesses and a person of interest, but no charges have been filed early Wednesday.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
