No Bond for Man Charged in 20-Year-Old Murder Case

David Ramirez-Martinez was charged with the murder after being linked to it through DNA testing

A Colorado man charged with murdering a 39-year-old woman in Lake View more than 20 years ago was ordered held without bond on Saturday.

David Ramirez-Martinez, now 45, is accused of fatally stabbing a 39-year-old woman at about 6 p.m. on May 14, 1994, according to a statement from Chicago Police. The woman was found dead inside her home in the 3900 block of North Ashland, police said.

Cold case detectives were able to link Ramirez-Martinez to the murder through a DNA match, police said. A warrant was issued for Ramirez-Martinez Thursday and he was arrested and extradited from his hometown of Boulder, Colo.

Ramirez-Martinez is next due in court on Monday.
