More Than One Robber Suspected in Oak Park Attacks

New surveillance video images don't match the suspect sketch from another attack

New surveillance video images have led detectives to think more than one robber is targeting women in Oak Park.

Police released the stills Monday showing a man using a woman's ATM card after the April 28 robbery. He used the card at a bank in the 5400 block of West Chicago Avenue.

The April 28 incident was the fifth in a string of attacks where a man approaches a woman from behind, puts her in a choke hold and robs her.

The surveillance stills released Monday, however, fail to match the sketch pieced together with another victim's help. The images' discrepancies raise suspicion among detectives that a pair of robbers or even more could be working together, officials say.

All five robberies happened on Lake Street between Austin Boulevard and Oak Park Avenue last month. Call Oak Park Police at 708-386-3800 if you have any information.
