Nativity Scene Returns to Daley Plaza for 31st Year

Organizers from the Daley Plaza Nativity Scene Committee say the display represents classic free speech

A life-size nativity scene returned to Daley Plaza Saturday, a Christmas tradition that now stretches more than three decades.

The depiction of baby Jesus in the manger stands in the Christkindlmarket and has been an annual tradition for 31 years.

Carolers from Saint George’s Catholic Church in Tinley Park helped debut the nativity scene as children carried the baby Jesus figurine into the wooden stable.

Organizers from the Daley Plaza Nativity Scene Committee say the display represents classic free speech.

The nativity scene will remain on display until Dec. 26.
