NW Indiana Doctor Goes Missing in Colorado

Dr. James McGrogan hasn't been seen since Friday hiking trip

The search continued Tuesday for a Chesterton, Ind., man who went missing in Colorado while hiking last week.

Dr. James McGrogan was last seen hiking with friends on Friday. The group decided to rest on their way to a location just north of Vail, but McGrogan decided to continue on alone.

When the group arrived, they discovered McGrogan wasn't there.

McGrogan, 39, had a large pack with plenty of supplies, including a GPS and an avalanche beacon.

A helicopter and four search and rescue crews have been looking for him, but haven't uncovered any clues as to his whereabouts.

According to the NWI Times, McGrogan’s wife, brother and mother have flown to Colorado to be close to the search efforts.

McGrogan has been an emergency room physician at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka since February.
