Poisoning Possible in Geese Deaths

Multiple geese were found dead over the past two days at two Chicago parks

Poisoning is suspected in the deaths of multiple geese at two Chicago parks on the city's southwest side.

Several geese were found Tuesday near the softball fields at McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Rd., and more were discovered Wednesday morning near the lagoon, said Jessica Maxey Faulkner, Chicago Park District spokeswoman.

A smaller number of dead geese were spotted Tuesday at nearby McGuane Park, 2901 South Poplar Ave. Faulkner could not confirm the exact number.

As of Tuesday night, poisoning was suspected, Faulkner said. Necropsies were being conducted by the Department of Animal Care and Control, and results are pending.
